X (Twitter) advanced search: the operators, and posts worth replying to

How to use X (Twitter) advanced search, every operator X’s own search form writes, and ready searches that find fresh posts and questions worth replying to.

Short answer: On x.com, search for anything, then open Advanced search (or go straight to x.com/search-advanced) to filter by words, accounts, replies, links, a minimum number of replies, likes or reposts, dates and language. Every field writes an operator you can also type yourself: from:, to:, @, min_replies:, min_faves:, min_retweets:, lang:, since:, until:, filter:replies and filter:links, with a minus sign to leave something out. To find posts worth replying to, pair your topic with -filter:replies, a minimum of likes, and the Latest tab.

  1. Log in on x.com and search for anything.
  2. On the results page, open Advanced search, under Search filters on the right. Or go to x.com/search-advanced.
  3. Fill in the fields you need and press Search.

X’s help page describes the form as filtering “by words, people, places, and dates”. The form you’ll see today has more than that, and one thing less: fields for replies, links and engagement, and no field for places.

The operators X’s own form uses

Every field in the form turns into an operator in the search box. These are the ones X’s current web form writes:

OperatorWhat it findsExample
"exact words"That phrase, word for word"cold email"
OREither word(saas OR startup)
-wordLeaves a word outnotion -template
from:Posts by an accountfrom:nasa
to:Replies to an accountto:nasa
@Posts that mention an account@nasa
min_replies:At least that many repliesmin_replies:20
min_faves:At least that many likesmin_faves:100
min_retweets:At least that many repostsmin_retweets:10
lang:Posts in a languagelang:en
since: and until:Posts between two datessince:2026-10-01 until:2026-10-15
filter:repliesOnly replies, or with a minus, no replies-filter:replies
filter:linksOnly posts with links, or with a minus, none-filter:links

X’s developer docs confirm that min_faves: and min_retweets: are the names web search uses. Guides that tested it say until: leaves out the date you give it.

You’ll find more operators in older guides, such as near:, within_time: and url:. X doesn’t document them for web search, and the current form doesn’t use them, so they may stop working without notice.
